Architect

Claudio Brun del Re is an Architect with PR-TY, new to the firm, he has been practicing architecture since 1987. Before joining our team he acted as the Chief Architect, Campus Development, Facilities for University of Ottawa. He was with the University of Ottawa since 1993 and has acted in various architectural capacities including being responsible for directing and managing the Master Plan for the University and overseeing all major capital projects. He also acted from 2009-2017 as Executive Director of Facilities responsible for all Facility Management activities including Planning, Design, Construction, Operations and Maintenance as well as Power Plant and Utilities. From 2017-2019 he was named Chief Architect for Campus Development and Facilities. Claudio’s Facility Management experience assists PR-TY in designing quality buildings for long term maintainability.

Claudio has extensive experience in the design and management of post-secondary educational and other facilities. He has worked and collaborated in various capacities with La Cité Collégiale, Ottawa, Ontario.  Since 2014 he has been a Certified Educational Facilities Professional (CEFP) with the Association of Physical Plant Administrators (APPA).

From 2012-19 he was a member of the the Executive Committee of the Ottawa Health Science Complex Inc.  (The Ottawa Hospital, The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario and University of Ottawa). The Executive of OHSC oversees and manages the Health Campus located at Alta Vista. 

Claudio has extensive experience in dealing with Public Boards and Committees and while at the University of Ottawa successfully collaborated with the National Capital Commission (NCC) and the City of Ottawa. He has has prepared strategic advice for Senior management, Statutory Committees and the Board of Governors for the University of Ottawa. He also has extensive experience working with and dealing with local community interest groups.

With a passion for volunteerism on behalf of the Architectural profession, Claudio has also been very active in the Canadian Architectural Certification Board (CACB), he was elected president of the organization for two terms, and continues to act as a CACB Representative. Furthermore, in 2019 Claudio was successfully elected Registrar of the College of Fellows with the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC).

Fluently bilingual with excellent writing and oral abilities in both English and French. Fluent speaking in Italian, good knowledge of Spanish.

Graduated with a B.Arch from the University of Waterloo in 1984 and a Bachelor of Environmental Studies, University of Waterloo in 1981. He has been a member of the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) since 1990, l’order des Architectes du Quebec since 1987. In 2003 he became a Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (FRAIC) .
